My name is Federico and I work as a visual artist in my free time. I am painting in the mountains of Grazalema (Spain), exploring the mystery of nature in a great, rocky and green environment. I’m cultivating a landscape of natural representations, working with life itself. Exploring the relation between artistic and natural language, between creation and reproduction of natural and mental life.  I’m interested in the historical narratives inscribed in the landscape by the people who live here.

A landscape created by the intersections of nature, culture and history that forms the substrata in which we live, our land, our town, our space, our place.

For me, nature is everything: the perfect union with all creation. Like the Tao, nature “has a name and at the same time doesn’t. Without name, it is the origin of all things; with name it is the Mother of 10000 things” (Tao Te Ching). Art permits me to think in complementary concepts, ying and yang, culture and the natural, male and female, light and substance, art and energy. Also it permits me to describe without constraints things that relate to one identity and also the opposite identity. Art permits me to transform reality and look at it with new eyes. It serves me to modify my habits of thought and, of course, modify my life as a consequence.

Some of my recent individual projects include La enredadera de la serpiente (Benveniste Contemporary, Madrid), La Bella Embalada (Pepe Cobo, Art Basel Miami Beach) y El mato de tomaco (Encuentro MDE 07, Medellín). Also I have worked in group projects such as Taina (interchange of archives and letters of the dessert in the free territories West Sahara), the Expedición a El Dibujo with Spanish and Columbian artists in Venezuela, the museo de la calle with the group Cambalache in Bogota, or Copilandia with Gratis in Sevilla.
